Hundreds of people received free gas Friday morning. Cars, trucks and SUVs lined up at three area stations for Free Gas Friday.
MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM teamed up with Han-Dee Hugo's for the giveaway.
The "Free Gas Friday" idea came from listeners' phone calls, venting their frustrations as gas prices continue to rise. MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM has held "Free Gas Friday" in the past, but never before with such an impact.
Area residents pulled away with $7,000 worth of gasoline.
