HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Instead of issuing a ruling Tuesday, a judge ordered the town of Hillsborough and the owner of the Colonial Inn to try and work out their issues.
The Chapel Hill businessman Francis Henry bought the inn more than two years ago and promised to restore it.
Town leaders are using an ordinance designed to protect historic buildings from decay to force him to make repairs.
Henry's lawyer claims the town is standing on shaky legal ground.
