Warren Commissioners Suspend County Manager, Maintenance Supervisor

Posted Updated

WARREN COUNTY, N.C. — Warren County commissioners have suspended two officials after they were involved in the alleged use of jail inmates who did chores at the private homes of county leaders.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating what County Manager Loria Williams and Maintenance Supervisor Robert Dunston knew about the alleged incidents.

Affidavits from former inmates claim they happened three years ago when they were taken to Williams' home to do yard work.

Williams said she never authorized or condoned the practice. If the SBI investigation shows the inmates did work for county leaders, the district attorney's office must then decide whether to file charges.
