Three Finalists Named In Search For Durham City Manager

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Mayor Bill Bell released the names of the finalists for the city manager position Wednesday.

Those in contention are:

  • Patrick Baker, current Durham interim city manager
  • Charles Penny, assistant city manager of Rocky Mount, N.C.
  • David Thompson, chief operating and financial officer of Freeman White Inc., an architectural and engineering firm in Charlotte.
  • A fourth candidate, William Harrell, withdrew his name after being named the interim chief administrative officer of Richmond, Va., on Tuesday.

    The public is invited to meet the candidates during a forum at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 13 in City Council Chambers at 101 City Hall Plaza.
