HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Barring any unforeseen problems, the Hope Mills Dam project should go ahead as scheduled.
The dam broke after heavy rains in 2003, washing out part of Lakeview Road as well.
The Army Corps of Engineers say road construction could begin next month, once the necessary permits are obtained and new plans for the dam are approved.
