Posted Updated

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A veteran Lumberton police officer who wound up in trouble with the law is off the hook.

Prosecutors dropped charges against Frank Yambo. They say a Cumberland County deputy responded to a noise complaint at the home of Yambo's sister.

When the deputy got there, he said Yambo would not get out of his way. He charged Yambo with obstruction.

Officials suspended Yambo, but with charges dropped, he is back on the job.

There is no word as to why the charges were dropped.
