RALEIGH, N.C. — A man accused of shooting his girlfriend outside a Halifax County day care now faces federal charges.
Investigators say Bruce Jarrett had a sawed-off shotgun, which is classified as a weapon of mass destruction.
Jarrett is accused of chasing Ebony Lane through the day care center and shooting her in the leg.
Because of the federal charge, Jarrett is now in the custody of U.S. Marshals.
