SELMA, N.C. — A police officer with the Selma Police Department is off the job after a parent of a teenager complained about the man having an affair with the teen.
Sgt. Tim Tyner was not charged with a crime and did not break any laws, but he is no longer with the Selma police.
The teenager, who is from Clayton, met Tyner on Internet.
Tyner is in his 30s, is married and has a child.
Officials won't say whether he left the job voluntarily or was fired.
The Johnston County District Attorney said no charges were filed because the girl was over the age of 16 and the affair was consensual.
Tyner and officials from the Selma Police Department were not available for comment.
