Wayne County Murder Suspect To Get New Lawyers

Posted Updated

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A Wayne County judge will allow a man charged with killing a 5-year-old girl to fire his court-appointed lawyers.

Eric Lane is charged with the 2002 kidnapping, rape and murder of Precious Whitfield.

Lane will soon be appointed new attorneys. He attempted to get new lawyers before, but changed his mind.

A hearing is scheduled on Dec. 6 to set a new trial date for Lane.

His trial was delayed once because of juror misconduct.
