FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One of the first black members of the Fayetteville City Council has died.
Marion George was 82. He is credited with helping integrate Fayetteville.
During the civil rights movement in the 1960s, George offered legal advice to students. He believed it was better to negotiate than riot in the streets.
