DOT To Temporarily Close Northbound I-85 In Durham County

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation will temporarily close northbound I-85 from Cole Mill Road to the U.S. 15/501 merge on Tuesday from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.
The closure will be in place nightly from midnight until 6 a.m. through Thursday, weather permitting.
Through traffic will use N.C. 147 (Exit 172) to U.S. 15/501 (Exit 16) back to I-85 North.
Local traffic will be able to access Cole Mill Road (Exit 173).
On Tuesday, the U.S. 15/501 exit, (Exit 174B), from southbound I-85 will be closed from midnight until 6 a.m. During this time, traffic will exit at Cole Mill Road (Exit 173) to Hillsborough Road to U.S. 15/501.
The closure is necessary to install girders for the new U.S. 15/501 bridge as part of the I-85 widening project.
Motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limit, be aware of construction workers in the work zone, stay alertand watch signs for construction information.
