RALEIGH, N.C. — Officials with the state Labor Department are investigating an incident involving a ride at the
State Fair
Thursday.
Officials said there was a fuel filter problem with the generator powering the ride. Workers managed to fix the problem quickly, but not before dozens of people had to be rescued off The Tango. Everyone got off safely.
Both State Fair and state local officials said the incident was handled calmly. They went on to say that all the rides are safe and reliable. The Tango was working on Friday.
According to
Saferparks
, Reithoffer, the carnival operator, has listed 31 ride-related injuries since 1993. Of those 31 injuries, four were because of abrupt stops caused by either a ride or power failure. Reithoffer reported one death during the time when someone fell out of the Giant Gondola.
