Navy: Pilot Error To Blame For Military Jet Crash At RDU

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Navy says pilot error is to blame for a fiery military jet crash at RDU International earlier this year.

The F-18 Hornet crashed during take-off in March. It stopped at the airport to refuel on its way to Tennessee.

The Navy's six-month investigation concluded the pilot's "lack of experience and understanding" caused the crash.

The pilot safely ejected from the jet. No one on the ground was hurt.
