Agriculture Department Chips In To Build New Hoke County Jail

Posted Updated

RAEFORD, N.C. — The Department of Agriculture is loaning Hoke County $7 million to build a new jail.

The current jail in Raeford is old and too small, which authorities claim has led to several escapes. It only holds 71 inmates.

Hoke County will pay interest on the jail loan. Construction should begin next year.
