ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Residents who live near or own businesses close to Tarry Town mall in Rocky Mount hope the water does not rise again.
In 1999, Hurricane Floyd flooded the mall and surrounding areas. It took years to rebuild many homes and businesses.
"I hope it will not do that again because it was a frightening experience," resident Vera Viverette said.
Wal-Mart recently announced plans to tear down an replace the old mall. Some worry more flooding could be a major setback.
