Police Make Arrest In Alleged Sexual Assault Cases

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have arrested a man they believe sexually assaulted a woman in her apartment.

Police say Otis Ray broke into an apartment in the Ivy Chase complex last month and assaulted the victim. Police say DNA connected Ray to the crime.

Ray was arrested after they say he broke into a unit at Lexington Farms Apartments Sunday. Authorities say a woman called 911 when she came home and found Ray asleep in her apartment. The woman was not assaulted.

Ray is also charged with a sexual assault at the Cedar Hill Condominiums in March 2002.

"We will endeavor to find any more cases he could be associated with and link him to those," said Sgt. Stacy Deans, of the Raleigh Police Department.

Ray faces seven charges including sexual assault and kidnapping. WRAL spoke with Ray's father Wednesday. The father said he hopes his son gets the help he needs and also offered his sympathy to the victims.
