Wilson Man, Son Injured In Lightning Strike

Posted Updated

WILSON, N.C. — A Wilson man and his son are in a hospital for observation after being struck by lightning Thursday afternoon.

Rescue crews say the two were standing under a tree at the corner of Tarboro Street and Parkwood Boulevard to get out of the rain. They believe lightning hit the father's umbrella and jolted his son.

Their injuries do not appear to be serious, officials said.
