Wilson Police Task Force To Focus On Juvenile Violence

Posted Updated

WILSON, N.C. — Police in Wilson are focusing on teen violence after a second teenager was murdered in less than a month.

Julia Briggs, 17, was shot and killed last week while walking home from a store. Police say she just happened to walk by two groups that were arguing and became an innocent victim.

Wilson's police chief says the groups have been causing trouble in several neighborhoods.

He has appointed a new juvenile violence task force to beef up patrols and defuse problems between the groups.

On June 29, the body of Brittany Willis, 17, was found in a field near the Brentwood Shopping Center. Three teens are charged in connection with her murder.
