Siler City Man Killed In Dirt Bike Accident

DURHAM, N.C. — A Siler City man was killed when his dirt bike collided with a sport utility vehicle Saturday night on Wedgedale Avenue in Durham.

Police said the accident occurred at 9:17 p.m. An eastbound Kawasaki dirt bike driven by Maurice Bagley, 22, of Siler City collided with a westbound 1995 Ford Explorer driven by David Saulters Jr., 47, of Durham.

The dirt bike collided with the right front quarter panel of the Explorer, which was turning into a driveway in the 3000 block of Wedgedale Avenue.

Bagley, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. Saulters was not injured.

Investigators said it appeared the dirt bike was speeding. No charges have been filed.
