NCSU Names New Diving Coach

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State University announced Mike Finneran will replace John Candler as its new diving coach Monday.

Finneran is a former Olympic diver whose experience includes years of championship-winning coaching.

Candler resigned in December after a child molestation conviction became public. Candler faced deportation to his native England, but a judge recently ruled he could stay.

Candler coached at N.C. State for 35 years and also runs a local swim club.
