House Approves Organ Donation, Fishing License Bills

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — It may soon be easier for organizations to identify organ donors in an emergency.

State House lawmakers approved a bill Friday giving organ procurement organizations access to Division of Motor Vehicle records.

The bill also adds 5 cents to the price of a driver's license to raise money for organ donation efforts. The bill goes to the Senate for a final vote.

It could also cost more to cast a fishing line in the waters off North Carolina.

The state House passed a bill calling for a $15 annual fee for recreational fishing along the coast.

A seven-day pass would cost $1; a lifetime license would cost $500. Children's licenses would cost less.

A final vote comes Monday.
