Durham Woman Evicted After Refusing To Leave Home

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A woman's stalemate with the Durham police has come to an end.

Julia Cameron finally was evicted from her home Thursday, ending an effort by the city to get her out.

Cameron and her son lived in her home on Barnes Street for 15 years. The city -- which wants to demolish the house and use the property as part of a revitalization effort -- bought the property in November. But Cameron refused to move out.

Cameron will be in court later this month on trespassing charges.
