Orange County Assumes Control Of Animal Shelter

Posted Updated

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — The Orange County Animal Shelter is under new management.

The county has taken over the day-to-day operations from the Animal Protection Society. In 2002, concerns were raised over the management of the shelter.

After a series of public meetings and an evaluation of the shelter, county commissioners decided a change was needed.

The Animal Protection Society plans to open its own adoption center later in July.
