PITT COUNTY, N.C. — The quarry at the center of a huge blasting debate is quieter for now.
Martin Marietta stopped blasting on parts of its quarry near the Wilson-Pitt County line.
Local homeowners had complained that the blasting was damaging their homes by vibrating the ground too much.
Marietta stopped some blasting after learning it failed to notify a nearby town of expansion plans.
Once the paperwork goes through, the company will start blasting again.
