RALEIGH, N.C. — An internal investigation at the Raleigh Police Department is complete, following an incident on March 30.
The review involved officers who destroyed an illegal homeless camp. A complaint was filed because the officers cut-up tents and tarps.
Raleigh police admit the officers did not handle the situation in the best way. They say appropriate disciplinary action was taken.
The department is now working on a new policy on how to handle the camps, which will include officer training.
A captain at the department is also joining the city's action plan to end homelessness all together.
