Deadline Passes For Woman, Son To Leave Durham Home

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A different kind of downtown project is causing a standoff in Durham.

A woman living in a house on Barnes Avenue refuses to move out.

The city bought the home at a foreclosure sale last year. Now, Julia Ann Cameron and her 16-year-old son officially are trespassing.

The city wants to demolish the house and use the property as part of the revitalization effort.

Cameron was told to be out by Friday or risk being put in jail. She's still there.

City officials will not say when they plan to have her arrested.
