RALEIGH, N.C. — The historic Raleigh home of a famous southern gardener moved aside for progress on Thursday.

North Carolina State's Farmhouse fraternity had to tear down the Elizabeth Lawrence house to build a new fraternity house. Lawrence was a famous gardening author.

An effort was underway to save the old home and move it, but no buyers came forward in time.

The Farmhouse fraternity did save some of her plants and trees on the property.
