Durham Leaders Support Toll Road Proposal

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham leaders say tolls will help clear up one of Interstate 40's busiest sections.

Durham County and city leaders are in support of a $100 million toll road expansion project on the stretch of I-40 between I-540 and the Durham Freeway.

Officials claim the area is a big bottleneck problem spot, and more drivers are expected to use that part of the interstate in coming years. They say 150,000 cars pass through the corridor daily.
