DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was arrested Friday morning and charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of 38-year-old Curt Blackman.

Blackman was found inside his apartment on May 20 by Duke University police officers after co-workers at Duke became concerned when he did not come to work.

Thomas Anthony Pitt, 22, of 804 Parkridge Road, Apt. B-2, was arrested without incident at 11:45 a.m. Friday inside Wal-Mart at Oxford Commons by members of the Durham Police Department's Selective Enforcement Team and Homicide Unit.

Pitt and Blackman were acquaintances, according to investigators.

Pitt has been charged with murder, possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretense. He has faced criminal charges before; he was charged with simple assault in Lenoir County in August 2001.
