ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A committee is one step closer to choosing a new artist to replace a controversial statue.
A Rocky Mount committee hired an Illinois artist to design a sculpture of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But a lot of people said it did not look like him.
The committee reviewed seven proposals for a new statue in the past week. Each one costs between $35,000 and $200,000.
The Rocky Mount City Council has to approve the committee's decision.
