Authorities Investigate Falls Lake Drowning

Brian Jordan
DURHAM COUNTY, N.C. — An investigation is under way into the death of a man found in Falls Lake.

Durham County deputies found the body of 28-year-old Brian DeShawn Jordan floating in the lake Tuesday afternoon. They said Jordan had been fishing from the Cheek Road bridge Monday night.

Authorities said Jordan's friends did not report the incident until Tuesday morning.

"He could have fallen. He could have been pushed. He could have jumped," said Lt. Ralph Love, of the Durham County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Jordan had prior run-ins with the law, but they do not believe that had anything to do with his death.

Family members said Jordan could not swim.

Alcohol may have been a factor in Jordan's death, but investigators are awaiting toxicology results that could take six to eight weeks to come in.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and can provide information that may be helpful to the case is asked to call the sheriff's office at (919) 560-0900.
