RALEIGH, N.C. — Local hopefuls are singing for a shot at stardom.
The first tapings of FOX 50's
"Gimme the Mike"
were held Wednesday in front of a packed house at Raleigh's BTI Center.
Two tapings are being held Thursday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. They are open to the public and admission is free. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
More than 700 people auditioned for 25 spots.
The first episode of "Gimme the Mike" airs on June 2 at 7:30 p.m. on FOX 50.
Over the next month, viewers and judges will whittle the group down to five finalists and one wild card to compete in the final show. The live finale is July 7, at 7 p.m.
