Search Under Way For Inmate Mistakenly Released From Cumberland Jail

Roger Collins
CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — A man accidentally released from the Cumberland County Jail is still on the run.

Jailers mistakenly released Roger Collins Thursday afternoon. Officers say Collins was in jail on minor criminal charges and for not paying child support.

A judge settled his criminal charges and told him he was free to go, but jailers did not realize he still had the child support case pending.

It is the sixth time in less than a year a prisoner has gone free from that facility.

Sheriff's deputies have launched an investigation into the incident.
