State Recommends Fines For Rest Homes

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state is recommending fines for two rest homes that were cited for issues with their patients.

Officials suggest fining the Oliver House $10,000 after

Williard Raper

, an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient, died after he wandered away from the Wendell home.

The review board also recommended a smaller fine for a

Cary adult-care facility

, where another patient walked away.

Two people driving by Alterra found the 89-year-old in his wheelchair on the side of the road.
