LOUISBURG, N.C. — Finding a chocolate treat for Mother's Day could lead you to Franklin County. The business is a sweet mother and son story.

Anthony Little, 13, said

The Chocolate Works & More

was not a tough decision for them.

"My mom asked me if I wanted to do a chocolate business and I said, 'Yes,'" Anthony said.

Melodie Hand, Anthony's mother, keeps the chocolate shop going, but she said he was the inspiration.

"Well, he's been helping me out in the kitchen since he was about 5," Hand said. "This really was for him -- to help him with his career goals."

Anthony has his hand in everything, especially cakes, brownies and fudge.

"He'll tell you flat out, he does better fudge that Mom does," Hand said.

Anthony's brother Kevin dips chocolates and helps customers while their 3-year-old brother, Kyle, stays out of the way. Anthony said while it is a family business, school still comes first.

"After we do our homework, we help out," he said. "You get to eat whatever you mess up."

The new shop satisfies chocolate cravings in person or by mail order.
