Cary Adds Fourth Red-Light Camera

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Cary's newest red-light camera is up and clicking.

Leaders activated the fourth of 16 cameras at the intersection of Northwest Maynard and Chapel Hill roads.

The move is designed to reduce accidents, improve traffic flow and enforce traffic safety.

More than 1,500 citations have been issued since the town's 15-day warning period ended on Valentine's Day.

Drivers face a $50 fine.

The town hopes to have the cameras at 16 locations by March 2005.
