Dan Davis III, 19, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He admits he beat 18-year-old Grant Ringenberg so severely he died.
Police said an ongoing argument over Ringenberg's girlfriend apparently led to the fight.
Ringenberg graduated from Middle Creek High School in Apex.
