DURHAM, N.C. — A gravesite mistake will cost state Rep. Mickey Michaux big bucks.

A jury awarded a Durham couple $70,000 on Tuesday. But because there were unfair and deceptive trade practices, the judge tripled the damages.

Dorothy and Charles Miles claim their daughter's gravesite marker has been moved so many times, they are not sure where she is located. Michaux and his brother, Eric, own the Durham cemetery, where Lanesha is buried.

Mickey and Eric Michaux will have to pay $180,000. J&P Memorials, the company that made the marker, must pay $30,000 in damages.
