DURHAM, N.C. — An internal audit is raising questions about pay raises for some Durham County employees.
The audit found that Jackye Knight, the county's human resources director, and her subordinates approved double-digit raises for some workers, but they did not have the required documentation to justify the pay hikes.
Three of the employees who got raises work directly for Knight.
The county's auditor said it looks like a case of favoritism.
