MORRISVILLE, N.C. — The town of Morrisville is growing by leaps and bounds.

New census numbers suggest the town has nearly 12,000 residents.

Town leaders launched its own door-to-door census campaign in March after they disagreed with the results of the 2002 count. The original numbers suggested only 6,000 people lived in Morrisville while town leaders said the number was more like 11,000.

Morrisville stands to gain $300,000 in sales tax and road money.
