Now-Defunct Travel Company Fails To Deliver Trips For Duke Students

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Spring break was a bust for dozens of Duke students.

University police said a now-defunct student-run travel company bilked students out of more than $25,000.

Students said Duke Travels promoted trips to Miami, Cancun and Myrtle Beach. But the trips never materialized.

Furthermore, the reimbursement checks bounced.

Many students said they thought the company was legitimate because it used the school's name.
