SANFORD, N.C. — Lee County School Board members will try to tackle the controversy surrounding a football coach's removal Thursday.
Superintendent Barry Aycock removed head coach Lee County High School head coach Charlie Groves in February.
The school superintendent says Groves was reassigned because of a lack of community support.
Aycock and Groves are expected to tell their sides at a closed hearing.
The school board could keep the decision, modify it or overturn it. It has 30 days to render a decision.
