Deadbeat Parents In Hoke County May Be Put On House Arrest

HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — Hoke County commissioners will consider a proposal Monday that would allow for house arrest for deadbeat parents.

More than 200,000 parents in North Carolina owe more than $1 billion in child support.

Social services says putting offenders in jail defeats the purpose because they cannot make money behind bars.

Wake and New Hanover counties already have a similar plan in place.
