FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A former Special Operations soldier from Fort Bragg is back in Fayettteville to face murder charges.
Forest Nelson waived extradition and was returned late Tuesday.
Nelson is accused of killing his girlfriend, Tabitha Croom, in 1999.
Investigators say they originally thought Nelson was a suspect. Until recently, they did not have enough evidence to charge him.
