Lee County High Principal Resigns Amid Coaching Controversy

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two new developments have occurred in a football coaching fight that is splitting Lee County.

In February, a powerful group of parents reportedly fought to have Charlie Groves replaced as football coach at Lee County High. Groves subsequently was replaced, and he has appeal the school system's decision.

Lee County's principal also appears to be showing his disapproval. Dave Malechek announced his resignation to take a job in Wake County.
