Morrisville Goes Door-To-Door For Census

Posted Updated

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — If you live in Morrisville, expect a knock at the door. The town began its own census Thursday by going door-to-door.

Leaders disagree with a state population count that nearly 6,100 people live in the town. They think it is more like 11,000 residents.

Morrisville is now paying the U.S. Census Bureau $200,000 to do a more accurate count.

If the town's numbers are right, Morrisville could gain an additional $300,000 a year in sales tax and road money.
