LEE COUNTY, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a Lee County commissioner.
Investigators want to know if commissioner Jerry Lemmond filed a false tax statement on behalf of his brother.
The statement was written by a fire chief, claiming a piece of property had burned to the ground, when in fact, it did not.
The paperwork was requesting a $540 tax refund for Lemmond's brother.
