Dunn Man Accused Of Forging Dead Woman's Checks

Posted Updated

DUNN, N.C. — A Dunn man faces felony charges for allegedly forging checks belonging to a dead friend.

According to investigators, 45-year-old Mitchell Upchurch got about $100 from checks he wrote in Mary Cabe's name.

Cabe was found dead of a drug overdose last March on a utility road outside of Dunn. She disappeared a few weeks before that after wrecking her car.

Investigators said Upchurch may have lived with Cabe.
