Fort Bragg, Fayetteville Suspend Operations Due To Inclement Weather

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The winter weather has forced some services in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg to suspend their operations.

Fort Bragg officials said the post will be closed Friday due to inclement weather. The post was also closed on Thursday. Key and mission essential personnel need to report to work Friday at normal duty hours.

The city of Fayetteville will suspend operations at noon Thursday due to the increasing amount of snow on the roads and ensuing hazardous driving conditions. Non-public safety employees will leave at noon and City Hall is closed for business for the rest of the day.

Garbage collection ceased Thursday morning when trucks collecting in residential areas began to slide. Garbage collection is scheduled to resume Friday morning depending on the condition of the roads. However, crews will only collect household garbage and suspend yard trash collection until next week.

The Fayetteville area system of transit is scheduled to cease operations at noon Thursday. Officials have also shut down the Fayetteville Regional Airport.
