RALEIGH, N.C. — Patrick Moody was executed early Friday morning for the shooting death of his girlfriend's husband.

Moody was executed by injection at Central Prison for the Sept. 16, 1994 death of Donnie Robbins of Thomasville.

Moody was having an affair with Robbins' wife Wanda, who persuaded Moody to shoot her husband so they could collect a $5,000 insurance policy.

A Correction Department spokesman said Moody was pronounced dead at 2:19 a.m.
